3.1. Projects

Submitted by pbrunet on Mon, 06/06/2011 - 12:34

In Sigmah, a project is an entity which includes at least:

  • A means of identification:
    • Project title
    • Project code
  • A duration:
    • start date
    • end date
  • A logical framework
  • A budget
  • A geographic organisational unit
  • A head of project
  • One or more monitoring phases

Depending on the specific characteristics of the model used, the project can also contain a lot of other information: anything the organisation decides is useful to monitor.

In practice, humanitarian actors use the word « project » without making a clear distinction between their own perception of the project, the perception of the donor and the perception that an implementing partner can have of it. In order to be more precise, for example, for cases involving co-funding, it was necessary to establish distinct concepts.
There are therefore three types of project in Sigmah:

  1. NGO projects
  2. funding projects
  3. local partner projects

Over and above their differences, the definition of a project given above applies to all three types.
